Stunning Summer Patchwork Retreat

Patchwork Retreat with Sally Holman

Quilt Sandwich at The Royal Bridlington have been organising and running workshops and retreats for a number of years. Our workshops generally commence at 10am with Coffee and homemade biscuits. The tutor will then teach through till lunchtime when we break for a two course hot and cold buffet lunch plus tea/coffee. After lunch the tutor will continue and then we break again for afternoon tea and homemade cake before we continue tithe the final session for the day which takes us to around 4/4.30pm. Our day students then depart and the residential students can either enjoy a break or sew on till dinner time.

Dinner is a choice from a four course menu. After dinner you can enjoy free time or of course you are welcome to enjoy unlimited sewing time.

After a good nights rest, enjoy our freshly cooked to order breakfast and well stocked buffet table. Usually there is just time for a stroll out on the beautiful South Beach before we start crafting again.

Sally Holman is with us here at The Royal Bridlington in July 2015. The three day retreat and workshops commence on the 27th July.

Sally Holman is a qualified teacher and has been teaching patchwork for 27 years, as well as writing articles and designing patterns for magazines. Sally Holman has written several books and has a range of patterns and kits to her name also.

Sally Holman likes to emphasise learning new skills and techniques and creates a fun & friendly environment in which to learn.

Over the three days Sally Holman will be teaching a variety of projects. You can choose to take all three days and stay over and enjoy unlimited evening sewing too, or you can just select one or two days.

Creating a scene is Sally Holman’s signature workshop. You can start to make a lovely three section wall

hanging with a seaside theme. You will lean Sally’s special techniques of flat & textured piecing along with applique and embroidery to make this attractive wall hanging. Alternatively you may want to choose or smaller project or to make a different scene – there are plenty to choose from.

The next day you can either continue with your scene or you can partake in a 3D Tiered Christmas Tree. This is idea as a table centre and alternative to a traditional small tree. You can make crazy patchwork sections to create your tree or if you want to speed up the process you can make each direction from just fabric and embellish these. This is a really fun project.

The last day Sally Holman will be teaching Door Stops. You can choose either a duck or an Owl. You will start to make this popular project using the techniques of folded patchwork and applique. With a little forward preparation (instructions supplied on requirements list) you should be able to male most of this project on the day. The Duck takes slightly longer than the owl.
