Tour de Yorkshire

May 1st 2015 is to be a massive day in Great Bridlington.

Tour de Yorkshire, a brand new race developed by the ASO in association with Welcome to Yorkshire have placed Great Bridlington at the Heart of this wonderful celebration of Sport.

Great Bridlington will from here on not only be the Heart of the Yorkshire Coast but will forever be the town which started one of the Greatest cycle races in the Cycle race calendar.

The race will commence with great pomp and circumstance outside of the Bridlington Spa at 11:50 on the 1st May 2015 from where it will travel through Great Bridlington up to Sewerby Hall where the racing will commence in ernest.

The race teams will not only start off on the beautiful South Beach but they will also pass along the bustling Promenades and to the North Beach before heading through the splendid village of Sewerby and onwards and upwards to Scarborough.

The Stage one of the inaugral race will be a test of indurance as well as great climbs and great sprints.

Already the Great Race Teams are starting to jockey for position. Sir Bradley Wiggins has announced that although he is leaving Team Sky at the end of April he will be racing the Tour de Yorkshire in May with he brand new developmental Team Wiggins.

This announcement is an awesome boost for the race as having Sir Bradley Wiggins in this race, the 2012 Tour de France Champion, will push the other Great Teams into fielding massive teams.

We are expecting the announcement of the remaining 15 teams to be announced at the Welcome to Yorkshire Conference. Y15 is taking place on March 18th at Scarborough Spa. Watch this space the massive news of who to look out for on May 1st.

And - have a Great Bridlington Tour de Yorkshire.
